If something went wrong with a recording, it helps to include your iPhone model, your iOS version, the app version from Settings → Version, and roughly when the night was.

Recording

How do I stop a recording?

Open the app and tap Stop at the bottom of the recording screen. The night is saved and your report opens.

If you forget, the app stops and saves the session by itself once it reaches its maximum length, so a forgotten recording will not run all day.

Does it keep recording when the screen is locked?

Yes. You can lock the screen and put the phone down. What you must not do is close the app — swiping it away from the app switcher ends the session.

Where should I put the phone?

Within about a metre of your head, face up, not under a pillow or a duvet. Covering the microphone is the most common reason a night comes back quieter than it really was.

Plug the phone in. A full night of recording will flatten a battery that started at 40%.

I recorded a night and it found no snoring

Usually one of three things:

Try raising Settings → Detection sensitivity to High and keeping the phone closer.

It found far too much — a fan, traffic, my partner

Lower Settings → Detection sensitivity to Low. The app detects snoring by sound level, so a constant noise source close to the phone can cross the threshold. Moving the phone away from the fan or the window usually does more than any setting.

The recording stopped in the middle of the night

A phone call, an alarm, a flat battery or a full disk can all interrupt a session. The app tries to resume after an interruption, and whatever was recorded up to that point is kept rather than thrown away — you will find the night in History, just shorter than you expected.

Your report

What is a Snore Score, and what is a good one?

It is an open-ended index, not a mark out of a hundred. It combines how loudly you snored with how much of the night you spent snoring, so a quieter night scores lower and a louder or longer one scores higher.

Its job is to compare your nights with one another. Treat the label beside the number — Quiet, Mild, Moderate — as the reading, and the change from last night as the useful part.

Why does my score differ from another app?

Because every app uses its own formula and its own microphone calibration. Scores are not comparable between apps, and neither are the loudness figures.

Are the decibel values real?

They are relative and approximate, which is why they are shown with a ~. A phone microphone is not a calibrated sound level meter, and the reading depends on the distance to your head, the room, and the device. Use them to compare your own nights, not against clinical or workplace thresholds.

Can it detect sleep apnea?

No. SnoreScore is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat or monitor any condition, including sleep apnea. If you snore heavily, wake unrefreshed, or someone has told you that you stop breathing during sleep, please speak to a doctor. The app can be useful to show them, but it is not a test.

Your data

Where are my recordings stored?

On your iPhone, and nowhere else. Recordings and the results calculated from them are never uploaded. There is no account and no sign-up.

Audio clips are kept for the most recent 30 nights and then removed automatically; the reports themselves stay.

How do I delete everything?

Settings → Delete all data removes every night, every clip and every result from the device, permanently. Deleting the app does the same thing.

There is nothing for us to delete on our side, because we never received it. See the Privacy Policy for the limited information that does leave the device.

Can I get a night back after deleting it?

No. We hold no copy, which is the point of the design — but it also means there is no backup to restore from.

Premium

What does Premium add?

Recording every night and getting your Snore Score stay free.

I paid, but Premium is not active

Open the subscription screen and tap Restore purchases. That recovers a purchase made with the same Apple ID — after reinstalling, or on a new device.

If it still does not appear, email us and mention the Apple ID region and roughly when you bought it.

How do I cancel?

On your iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → SnoreScore → Cancel. You can also reach it from Settings → Manage subscription inside the app.

Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us — reportaproblem.apple.com.
